SEED4AFRICA: A Project On Smart Business Education And Training For Digital Agriculture In Africa.

SEED4AFRICA: A project on smart business education and training for digital agriculture in Africa.

Today the team from innogestiona.es met with the DBTA team in Nairobi and discussed the ongoing project. DBTA is one of the partners of the SEED4AFRICA project, which aims to enhance the professional profile of African VET teachers and trainers in the field of agriculture and rural development by offering online, face-to-face and work-based learning opportunities. The project is funded by the Erasmus+ programme and involves three European countries (Italy, Belgium and Spain) and four sub-Saharan countries (Nigeria, Benin, Kenya and South Africa) with the potential to expand further within the EU, as well as across the Southern African region.

The project is based on the adaptation and transfer of three good practices from previous Erasmus+ projects: SEED – Smart Entrepreneurial Education and Training in Digital Agriculture; PONICS VET – Agricultural Technician in Hydroponics; LiveAdapt – Solutions for Adaptation of Extensive Livestock Farming to Climate Change. These good practices will provide innovative training approaches and materials for VET teachers and trainers in smart, digital and sustainable agriculture.

The project will also foster collaboration between educational institutions, public authorities and private companies through competition-based initiatives, such as hackathons and innovation bootcamps, where mixed teams of VET students and stakeholders from the agricultural sector will co-design digital and entrepreneurial solutions to societal challenges linked to the Sustainable Development Goals of the 2030 Agenda.
