Train of Trainers: Child Safeguarding and Protection
In 2022, Don Bosco Tech Africa conducted training on Child Safeguarding and Protection in 11 countries including Zambia, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Malawi, Rwanda, Uganda, Burundi, Kenya, Tanzania, South Sudan, and Nigeria. The general objective of this training was to enable the Salesians to be competent and take the lead in initiating, adopting, and enforcing Child protection best practices in line with the Don Bosco preventive system, the Social teaching of the church, and the relevant legal framework.
To ensure the sustainability of this training, Don Bosco Tech Africa has organized a training of trainers among selected individuals from the above-mentioned countries. The participants of this training include Salesians and laypeople from the various Don Bosco communities. Others present are representatives from Salesian Sisters (FMA) in Kenya, Marist brothers and St. Vincent De Paul.
The objectives of this training of trainers are to equip the participants with facilitation skills that will help them conduct similar training, help participants acquire new skills, and sharpen the existing skills which will make them enhance service delivery and be better leaders. The participants are expected to cascade this initiative down to the local level.
The training is coordinated by Br. John Njuguna and facilitated by Ms. Catherine Kisasa and Sr. Damaris Muthusi.
