World Environment Day 2023

World Environment Day 2023

In the world, plastic is another huge gold mine worth billions of dollars and businessmen reap a lot of profits from it. All the same, plastics have become a menace to the ecosystem (both terrestrial and marine) causing a huge ecological disbalance. This is causing ecologists and environmentalists huge amounts of money to clean such pollution in the environment due to the negative effects’ plastic has to the ecosystem.

Due to their non-biodegradable nature, plastics are persistent in nature and to the environment. This has caused:

  1. Huge soil pollution affecting biodiversity, agriculture and even human being.
  2. Water pollution affecting all aquatic life
  3. When burn, atmospheric pollution due to the toxic dioxins produced.

As we celebrate this year World Environment Day #BeatPlasticPollution, we can only achieve this through:

  1. Stop single-use plastic
  2. Re-use
  3. Recycle

DBTech Africa has come up with a solution to create awareness in waste management. DBTech Africa has raised awareness among 6,400 students through 17 Green Clubs in Angola, Burundi, Kenya, Madagascar and Nigeria. This has played a key role in waste management collecting about 20,341 kgs of waste since the year 2020 in all Don Bosco institutions in various countries implementing the DBTA Green TVET project.
