Visit to Centre de la Formation Professionnelle Muetu Don Bosco, Mbujimayi

On 20th May 2022, Fr. George TJ, Mr. Kamau and Fr. Joachim Tshibangu visited Centre de la Formation Professionnelle Muetu Don Bosco, Mbujimayi. The centre was previously run by the diocese and it was handed over to the Salesians of Don Bosco in 1990. There are two sections in the training centre: a professional centre and a technical secondary school.

The professional centre admits students who have completed primary school in class 6. The trades offered at the centre are carpentry, tailoring, construction and general mechanics which include welding and motor vehicle mechanics.

The courses take four years. A one-year Motorbike repair course is also available. Graduates receive a government certificate at the conclusion of their training.

The technical secondary school is for students who have completed class 6 and then continue up to class 12. Students in class 8 to 12 specialise in the various technical trades which are general mechanics, carpentry, tailoring and construction.

The team had the opportunity to speak to the students, visit the Job Service Office (JSO), and meet with the staff during their visit.
