Don Bosco Tech Africa Strategic Plan 2025-2029 Workshop

“Strategy without execution means nothing!” These were the words of Fr. Maximus Okoro SDB, director of Don Bosco Tech Africa. Our collective effort,he further explained, “will be required to achieve the objectives outlined in DBTA’s Strategic and Sustainability Plan over the next five years.”

Fr. Maximus was speaking at the Strategic Plan 2025-2029 Workshop organized by Don Bosco Tech Africa, which was successfully hosted from 23rd to 26th September 2024 at Don Bosco YES Karen, Nairobi, Kenya.

His comment was part of his concluding remarks in which he highlighted the importance of the innovative discussions and feedback that emerged during the workshop, emphasizing that these contributions will play a key role in shaping the future of youth empowerment in Africa. He reminded participants of the need for focused and collaborative execution of the strategies outlined during the workshop.

The workshop brought together P-TVETs representing the 15 Salesian Provinces and one delegation in the Africa-Madagascar region, DB Tech Africa office staff and a representative from Don Bosco Mondo. The event was organized to shape the future direction of Don Bosco Tech Africa (DBTA) through the development of a comprehensive strategic and sustainability plan.

During the week-long workshop, the participants identified key strategic areas, formulated strategic objectives, strategic responses, outlined corresponding activities, intended outputs and defined measurable key performance indicators (KPIs). The discussions centred on critical topics, including sustainability strategies for DBTA, which were comprehensively explored to ensure the organization’s long-term growth and impact.

In addition, two representatives from the Government of Kenya, representing the Technical and Vocational Education and Training Authority (TVETA) and the Ministry of Labour, were invited to provide insights on stakeholder engagement in skills development and labour market trends and interventions in both Kenya and Africa.

The workshop concluded with remarks from Fr. Maximus Okoro who expressed his gratitude for the active participation and commitment of the attendees, while he underscored the vital role of lay collaborators, referring to them as “the backbone of the Salesians’ mission.”

The workshop, facilitated by Br. John Njuguna, the Deputy Director of Don Bosco Tech Africa, received support from Don Bosco Mondo, Missioni Don Bosco Turin, Jugend Eine Welt Vienna, and Salesian Missions New Rochelle.
