Don Bosco Tech Africa and Cisco Networking Academy Kick Off Digital Skills Training Partnership

On 14th August, Don Bosco Tech Africa (DBTA) officially launched a partnership with Cisco Networking Academy to strengthen digital skills training across its Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) network. The kickoff meeting marked the beginning of a program that will provide free access to digital literacy and advanced courses through Cisco’s Networking Academy.

The core purpose of this partnership is to provide African youth with in-demand employable digital skills that are aligned to the demands of the 4th Industrial Revolution and emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity and Internet of Things. The aim is to make available Networking Academy’s courses and resources to qualifying and mutually agreed to Don Bosco Tech institutions across Africa.

The initiative will roll out in three phases, starting with training instructors at basic, intermediate, and advanced levels, before extending to all trainees in the network.

Next steps for smooth rollout of this training:

  • Institutions to share with DB Tech Africa number of instructors to be trained, and their starting levels
  • Institutions to apply to become a Cisco Academy

Cisco representatives emphasized that this partnership aligns with Africa’s broader vision of preparing youth for the Fourth Industrial Revolution. Fr. Maximus Okoro, DB Tech Africa director and Br. John Njuguna, DB Tech Africa deputy director, encouraged participants to embrace this opportunity, stressing its importance for digital education and preparing youth for the modern workforce.
