Installation of wastewater biodigester ongoing at Buterere

AGL Province, Burundi – Don Bosco TVET center, Buterere in Burundi is installing a wastewater biodigester to recycle wastewater within the institution that would otherwise overwhelm the center.

This Biodigester is an environment-friendly sanitation system that uses microorganisms to break down biodegradable organic matter such as food scraps and human waste to reusable water.

The project is part of the Don Bosco Tech Africa (DBTA) Global Programme under the banner of Green TVET.

Installation of the wastewater biodigester is in line with the project’s closed-loop approach in waste management in which vital resources are recycled and reused. The biodigester will solve the incessant problem of water management that has been rife at the centre.
