Ethical Fashion Initiative partnership with Don Bosco Boys’ Town

On 2nd August 2023, a team from Ethical Fashion Initiative (EFI) visited Don Bosco Boys’ Town Technical Institute for a partnership discussion. EFI creates and strengthens social enterprises in emerging economies to connect discerning international brands in fashion, and interiors with talented local designers, artisans, and micro-producers.

According to Simone Cipriani, the chief technical adviser at EFI, they would like to put up an independent social enterprise for fashion design at Don Bosco Boys’ Town for international clients.  The synergy of the enterprise will be; training Don Bosco trainers on the production of products for international brands, offering Don Bosco students internships at the factory, offering apprenticeships to trainees, having incubation programs, assisting the graduates start up their own businesses, and incorporating other departments like the mechanical department for maintenance of the machine.

The enterprise will ensure quality delivery and sustainability of the institute. It will also help the trainers and trainees become more creative in the field of fashion design through interaction with various international clients.

Present at the meeting were Br. Francis Mulu, the Principal of Don Bosco Boys’ Town, Fr. Sebastian Koladiyil, the Vice-rector of Don Bosco Boys’ Town, Fr. Selvam Sahaya, the Province Youth Ministry Delegate, Fr. Erastus Chege, the Provincial Economer, Br. John Njuguna, the Deputy Director of Don Bosco Tech Africa, Mr. Simone Cipriani, the chief technical adviser at EFI, Mr. Vincent and Ms. Catherine both from EFI.
