Don Bosco Tech Africa Becomes A Member Of The American Welding Society

Don Bosco Tech Africa becomes a member of the American Welding Society

The American Welding Society is a nonprofit organization founded in 1919 with a global mission to advance the science, technology, and application of welding and allied joining and cutting processes worldwide, including brazing, soldering, and thermal spraying. They offer professional certification, education, and advancement opportunities; access to a network and community of mentors and industry leaders; and the chance to be a part of developing the next generation of welders.

As a member of the American Welding Society (AWS) through Educational Institution Membership, Don Bosco Tech Africa (DBTA) will benefit in several ways:

  1. DBTA will receive three individual memberships, which can be distributed to employees or customers and reassigned as needed. These members will enjoy:
  • Discounts on AWS conferences, seminars, certifications, and bookstore purchases.
  • Access to the AWS Member Network online community, including discussions, a file library, and a member directory.
  • A subscription to the Welding Journal magazine.
  • Opportunities for networking and leadership development through affiliation with a local AWS section.
  • A weekly e-Newsbrief called “This Week in Welding,” which provides timely news stories, AWS event updates, educational offerings, and new AWS publications.
  1. The ability to use the AWS Educational Institution Member logo on company letterhead and promotional materials.
  2. A 40% discount on over 300 AWS publications when purchased directly by DBTA.
  3. A free listing on AWS’s website, which attracts 100,000 visitors a month, with an option to hyperlink to DBTA’s website for a minimal fee.
  4. A professional wall plaque to display DBTA’s affiliation with the American Welding Society.
  5. Discounts through partner programs for insurance (location-dependent), business services, shipping, office supplies, travel deals, and more.
  6. A 10% discount on job postings at jobsinwelding.com, providing a platform for job opportunities in the welding field.

DBTA intends to use this linkage to promote the welding skills within its network, especially in becoming accredited AWS training centres that will offer internationally recognised welding certification.  This will elevate the quality and scope of Don Bosco’s technical and vocational education and training, positioning DBTA as a leader in the field and empowering marginalized youth with the skills and knowledge required for successful careers in the welding industry.
