Don Bosco Tech Africa among the winners of  the  “European Training Foundation Green Skills Award”

In February 2022, the European Training Foundation (ETF) launched a call for examples of good practice on the role of skills in empowering the green transition. The call, entitled ‘Green transition: education, training and skills’ aimed to collect stories about how education, training and skills development is supporting the shift towards sustainable, clean, carbon-neutral circular economies and societies.

Don Bosco Tech Africa presented the best practice of use of renewable energy in Don Bosco JOBITECH Onitsha, Nigeria. The ETF received 64 applications from around the world. Ten finalists among them Don Bosco Tech Africa were shortlisted for this year’s award.

On May 13th The European Training Foundation (ETF) announced the start of the public vote for the Green Skills Award 2022, a competition that honours projects from around the world that demonstrate innovation and creativity in green skills and education. The voting ended on June 5th, with the three winners being announced on June 9th.

Croatia’s ‘The Green Changemaker,’ Nigeria’s “Operation Skill them up,” and Don Bosco Jobitech in Onitsha Nigeria were selected first, second and third, respectively, in this year’s public vote.

The award aims to highlight how school and vocational educational training programmes are being developed to support the shift to sustainable, carbon-neutral, circular economies and societies.  By showcasing projects, the award helps to provide ideas and inspiration for education and training of policy-makers and practitioners in the EU neighbourhood and beyond.
