Since its inception, the VTC has offered professional training through different sections. In the beginning, only two courses existed: carpentry and welding. Gradually, other sections were started and the centre has expanded. Currently, it has offers six different course namely: electrical, welding, tailoring, construction, ICT and mechanics. The center has 215 students, including 56 girls and 159 boys.

Don Bosco Buterere Vocational Training Centre responds to the needs of youth and their families by offering them the opportunity to learn a skill. Those who manage to complete the training are able to integrate into the world of work and the society. Collaboration with the education ministry enables the VTC to offer recognized programs and certification after the studies. There are different companies that collaborate with the school and facilitate the training during internships.

Don Bosco Buterere VTC will continue to offer training to the young boys and girls and prepare them for higher studies. In order to be more helpful to the trainees of the center, a job office was created recently and will do its best to keep in touch with the trainees when they are through with their formation. It will get in touch with different partners who would need the graduates for employment.
