Don Bosco Tech Africa and Cisco Launch Digital Skills Capacity Building Programme for TVET Trainers
January 20, 2026 — Don Bosco Tech Africa (DBTA), in partnership with Cisco Networking Academy, has officially launched a Train of Trainers (TOT) in Digital Skills for English -speaking Don Bosco TVET Institutions. This is the first cohort commencing on January 21, 2026, to be followed by the French cohort at a later date. The Cisco team will conduct the training and has made it available to the TVET centres under the DBTA network.
The programme is a strategic investment in strengthening digital competencies, pedagogical excellence, and industry relevance. By aligning TVET training with global standards and the demands of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, it equips trainers with the expertise and tools needed to deliver high-quality, future-ready digital skills to young people across Africa.
The TOT programme follows a structured and flexible four-phase model. Phase One focuses on basic digital skills, Phase Two on intermediate digital skills, Phase Three on advanced digital skills, and Phase Four emphasises classroom implementation and continued educator enablement to ensure sustained impact. Through this approach, trainers are empowered as multipliers of knowledge, extending the impact of the programme to classrooms, workshops, and communities throughout the continent.
Cisco is globally recognised not only for technological excellence but also for its strong commitment to education, capacity building and social impact. This partnership reflects a shared vision: that access to relevant, high-quality digital skills can transform lives, institutions, and societies.
Rooted in the Salesian mission of Don Bosco, DBTA, with partners, continues to empower young people, particularly those from disadvantaged backgrounds, by ensuring they have access to quality training that will lead to relevant, decent, and employable skills.
By equipping trainers and strengthening institutions, Don Bosco Tech Africa continues to position itself as a leading force in TVET innovation, digital transformation, and youth empowerment in Africa.
